Charity number

The term Charity Number does not mean the telephone number of the local homeless charity. Nor does it refer to the registration number of a charitable institution or fund, as one might expect. In a broader sense, however, a charity number does have something in common with doing good. Exactly when the term was first used cannot be traced. In any case, it does not sound as pejorative as the colloquially more common “pity fuck”. So, it's about a woman or a man having sexual intercourse with a less attractive person. Why? Well, as mentioned before, in most cases this probably happens pitying. After all, almost everyone feels better after sex. You have received attention, you have been in company, and the hormone release ensures that the man or woman simply feels good afterwards. Nevertheless, the term itself is not particularly charming, and the majority of people who pleasure someone out of pure compassion will not make a big fuss about it. You hear the term charity act more often when relationships fall apart. Unfortunately, many people feel the need to insult the other person when a relationship comes to an unpleasant end. Being called a charity act in this context naturally hurts deeply and scratches the ego.

It can happen that you end up in bed with someone you don't find the least bit attractive or good-looking. This often happens when you are drunk, i.e., at or after parties and the like. Nevertheless, you should not use the rather degrading choice of words. It is best not to mention it at all. However, one thing is important and also fair: one should make something clear to the person whom one has done a sexual favour out of compassion. Namely, that the “number against sorrow” was not based on feelings or could even lead to a relationship.
